This brand didn’t start with a business plan.
It started with grief. With healing. With a deep desire to come back to myself.
Afriprint, formerly Aloha Glamour, is more than a fashion brand. It’s a love letter to Black women — especially those of us who have lost, who have led, who are learning to live boldly again.
Let me take you back.
💔 The Moment That Changed Everything
In 2015, I lost my daughter Lauren Taylor while stationed in the military.
The world kept spinning, but I felt stuck — trying to smile through pain, raise children, manage work, and carry a silent grief that no one could see.
I felt like I had lost part of myself. But in that deep pain, I found a spark.
I started creating. Dressing in color. Wrapping my hair in bold prints. Connecting to my roots as a form of restoration.
That spark became Aloha Glamour — a boutique with a mission to help women feel seen, celebrated, and connected to the culture. But something was still calling me deeper.
👑 Becoming Queen Mother of Pokrom Nsabaa
Years later, I returned to Ghana — the place where many of our Afriprint pieces are made.
What began as a sourcing trip turned into something divine.
In an unprecedented moment, I was honored with the traditional title of Queen Mother in the village of Pokrom Nsabaa. I became the first outsider ever chosen to hold this sacred leadership role — tasked with advocating for women, children, and community development.
It was more than an honor. It was a homecoming.
Now, everything I do is tied to that purpose — from how we make our products to how we tell our stories.
✨ Why I Created Afriprint
I created this brand for:
-
The woman who wants to feel rooted while walking into her next season
-
The mom rebuilding her life after loss
-
The entrepreneur showing up boldly in every room
-
The Black woman who deserves fashion that reflects who she is, not just what’s trending
We don’t sell “African-inspired” prints mass-produced in factories.
We sell heirlooms handmade in Ghana — and every piece carries a name, a story, and a spirit.
This is about reclaiming joy. Reclaiming identity. Reclaiming legacy.
🌍 From Pageants to Purpose
My journey also led me to pageantry — a space where I could amplify my message, stand boldly in rooms I never imagined, and represent women who carry both pain and power with grace.
As Ms. Black Mississippi USA 2024 and now International Ms. Souther States 2025, I’ve used my platform to launch healing events for bereaved mothers, raise awareness around Black maternal health, and spotlight African artisans like Janet B., who create the pieces you see in our shop.
Fashion was the entry point. Healing is the mission.
👑 Final Word: This Brand is For You
If you’ve ever felt like you were too much, too different, too deep…
This brand was built for you.
Every print, every bag, every wrap is a reminder that you belong to something bigger. That your story deserves to be seen. That healing can look like dressing in color again.
From Pokrom to pageants, from pain to purpose — Afriprint is the journey home.
Welcome.
