As we prepare to step into Black History Month, many of us take time to reflect on our roots, our culture, and the legacies we carry.
But this February 1st is especially sacred to me.
It marks one full month since my official coronation as Nkosuohemaa of Pokrom, Ghana—the Queen Mother of Development—and one full year since I humbly accepted this title and responsibility.
Yes, I was crowned in Ghanaian royalty.
But this crown is not for show.

It’s for service. ✨
What It Means to Be Nkosuohemaa
“Nkosuohemaa” means Queen Mother of Development—a title rooted in tradition and committed to progress.
As Queen Mother, I’ve been called to help lead growth and development in Pokrom, a vibrant village of over 10,000 people. This role is not just ceremonial—it’s a lifelong commitment to uplifting the community through sustainable action.

Starting Where the Legacy Lives: The Palace
And where are we beginning?
At the palace.
Because even the heart of leadership—the cultural and spiritual center of Pokrom—currently lacks proper bathroom facilities.
Imagine: a place where dignitaries visit, elders gather, and traditions are passed down… but where there’s no safe or dignified access to restrooms.
Before we build out, we must build within.
So one of my first initiatives as Nkosuohemaa is to renovate and provide functioning, sanitary bathroom facilities at the palace—as a foundation for future development and a statement of respect for the land and its leaders.

Our Vision for Pokrom
This is just the beginning. My vision is expansive—and rooted in listening to the real needs of the people. Here’s what’s in progress:
- ✅ Palace Sanitation Project – Installing modern, clean bathroom facilities on palace grounds.
- 📚 Education Support – Providing supplies and improving learning spaces for the children of Pokrom.
- 💼 Women’s Economic Empowerment – Creating income-generating opportunities through training, trade, and access to resources.
- 💧 Water & Sanitation Projects – Bringing clean, reliable water sources to the community.
- 🌍 Diaspora Bridges – Creating channels for Black Americans and the Diaspora to meaningfully connect with and support Ghanaian villages like Pokrom.
I Need Your Help to Build This
Right now, I’m laying the foundation for a non-profit organization to power these efforts long-term—and I’m asking for your partnership.
This is bigger than me. It’s about our collective power to create change that lasts.
I’m calling on:
- Grant writers
- Non-profit advisors
- Philanthropists
- Volunteers
- Architects / Engineers (especially for water & bathroom work)
- Those with a passion for African empowerment, cultural preservation, and impact work
If you’ve been looking for a way to give back to the Continent in a tangible, trustworthy way—this is your moment.
