The saris. The hijabs. The hanboks. The kilts. The embroidery. The pride.
So we have to ask:
Why do we wait until one month to wear our culture like a crown, when it’s been royal this whole time?

For generations, we were taught that assimilation equals survival. That boldness equals trouble. That “professional” means polished, plain, and palatable.
But sis… we were never meant to be palatable.

Other Cultures Never Stopped Repping

- Latinx communities blast bachata and wear traditional florals all year long.
And it’s beautiful. It’s respected.
So again we ask… why not us?
